The British artist Lisa Ivory was raised, educated, trained, and still lives and works in east London. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine art and painting from Central Saint Martin’s School of Art in London in 1988.

Ivory explores the concept of otherness and its inherent duality of attraction and fear, creating fantastic worlds of mythical creatures, chimeras, hybrids, and other classical narrative archetypes. Her work reminds us of our innate bestiality, and the wild imaginings within us if we are willing to explore and embrace it. While Ivory’s paintings recall Goya and William Blake, her drawings have a more political aspect which bring to mind the satirical sketches of Honoré Daumier.

We are very grateful to our Russian friend Yuri for introducing us to the work of this artist.
