These are the drawings from Marco Zagato’s early unfinished comic book project, in which two young friends are made to compete against each other in a sort of arena, like futuristic gladiators. Zagato imagined that the two protagonists were more than friends, but in reality secretly engaged. From these early studies of the aesthetics of gay eroticism, the artist’s later work on the same theme was later to be born.
