Originally published in 1866 as a history of the short-lived Erotic Theatre on the Rue de la Santé in the Batignolles district of Paris, together with the scripts of five short plays by obscure writers including Albert Glatigny, this mildly erotic classic (which was illustrated earlier by Félicien Rops) was reprinted in 1932 with twenty illustrations by Rojan.

Not much more needs to be said, beyond the text providing the basis for another Rojan set of erotic drawings. The edition was published anonymously in a print run of 270 copies.

As well as the twenty illustrations included in the printed book, we have also added three of the original watercolours from which the illustrations were adapted.

We are very grateful to Alexey Ivanov from Russia for providing the images for this title.
