Our new 700 Artists Appeal

It seems only yesterday that we were celebrating having reached 600 artists (it was actually just over a year ago), but here we are at 700 and counting! When we started this project seven years ago we could not have imagined that the world could possibly contain so much high-quality erotic artwork; how wrong we were. Seven years, 700 artists, more than 100,000 high-quality images, by far the world’s best and most comprehensive resource for important erotic art and illustration.

Honesterotica has more than 12,000 followers on Twitter/X and nearly 4,000 on Bluesky, and more than a thousand people every day visit the site, which makes us very proud of our achievement, constantly reminding us that we fulfil a very important role in art history and social awareness (not to mention pleasure) which no other online resource offers. And remarkably, unlike many similar online resources, it is completely free to use. This is because honesterotica is 100% non-commercial, created for and by enthusiastic lovers of erotic art. Just like you!

BUT – almost nothing in this world is free, and we have the inevitable costs of hardware and website maintenance, hosting and online storage. That’s now over £1,000 a year. Last year’s 600 Artists Appeal raised over £650 to help the project keep going, a wonderful and generous response for which were enormously grateful.

So again – and in the same way that regular users of Wikipedia and Project Gutenberg are sometimes asked to contribute to the upkeep of an important online resource – honesterotica is reaching out to its regular clientele to offer you the opportunity (never the requirement) to support us in our important work.

All you have to do is decide how much you would like to give to keep honesterotica alive and well, and make a Paypal payment to us at info@honesterotica.com. It can be a one-off or a regular payment, at whatever level you choose and can afford. A one-off of £10 is just as much appreciated as a regular annual £50.

Plus – there’s the chance of winning one of these four very special framed A4 giclée prints featuring iconic artworks created by some of honesterotica’s favourite artists, each of which normally sells at £90! Once the 700 Artist appeal notches up £700 we’ll pick one of our donors at random, who can choose which of the framed prints they’d like to own, and we’ll send them the print completely free (we will need to charge postage if you’re not in the UK).

When Paypal asks you ‘What’s this for?’ say ‘For friends and family’ and add a note ‘Donation from (your name/nickname)’ – we will add your email address to the list for the draw.
