Eddy Varekamp has been running his small art gallery in the Nine Streets canal district of Amsterdam for many years, selling his trademark paintings, linocut and stencil prints, and ceramics alongside other art and crafts relating to the city. Gallery Varekamp at Hartenstraat 30 is often described by visitors as cosy, awesome and unforgettable.

Eddy Varekamp grew up in Amsterdam, and studied fine art and design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. After graduating he was employed as a designer at the prestigious Van Besouw Textile Factory in Genemuiden, and in 1975 he succeeded the well-known Dutch designer Benno Premsela as the head of the design department at Van Besouw.

After he left Van Besouw, Eddy and Clara set up Gallery Varekamp, which now that Eddy is trying hard to be retired is just open on weekend afternoons.
