To celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the Age of Enlightenment philosopher, writer, and composer, Lelek created a website called 300 Years of Rousseau, which you can find here (in German). Lelek also produced a series of colourful drawings entitled The True Confessions, mirroring Rousseau’s famous autobiography Confessions, published between 1782 and 1789.
In the series the artist imagines an erotic encounter between the young Rousseau and a large women in a ‘wild’ setting, illustrating his preoccupation with his naturalistic views on human nature. In several of the drawings an older Rousseau reads sage advice, presumably from his own book.
