It was around 1999 that the soubriquet Kinky Jimmy first appeared, exploring the world of transgender sexuality – the borderlands of reality and fantasy where bodies can be both/and rather than either/or. How much this was a personal journey as well as an artistic one is open to question, but ‘Jimmy’ realised as he posted his early KJ images online that there was a largely unserved interest from an audience fascinated by his imaginative work.
At the beginning the drawings were on the crude side, and has always straddled the indistinct line between witty imagination and stereotyped porn fantasy. Gradually, however, and often through experimenting with different techniques including improvements in computer-based graphics, the output became more varied and sophisticated.
This selection mostly shows work signed KJ between 1999 and 2004.
