Here is how Sasha Neschastnova describes this series of paintings:
2020 was the year of Covid, and this project was created during the period of self-isolation. The main theme is what you do with yourself, and how a couple responds to it. What does a couple do in a confined space? How can you protect your relationship and yourself with a dose of humour and sarcasm. What do you need to do in order to survive the entire quarantine together without conflicts.
Keep your distance, even at home, especially with a fridge. In quarantine the distance between a person and a refrigerator is very important. The husband of my dreams has been overeating in quarantine and has already drunk a year’s supply of beer.
A good husband is one that gives you personal space and time, especially now. The husband of my dreams knows how to pretend to be a floor lamp, an ideal quality when you are locked in a closed, small space for a long time.
What can you do during home confinement? Statistics of domestic violence and accumulated fat on the belly are growing. Locked up in self-isolation we all go through different stages. Anger is a normal condition. Sometimes it’s worth letting it go outside.
All will be, but not today. You just sit at home on the couch, while from the TV screen they constantly promise that everything will be, but not today. Not today, not tomorrow, not in a year, maybe never.
