Badefreuden (Bathtime Pleasures) is another rare complete Schatz portfolio from the period after he had returned to Vienna from internment, demonstrating his outstanding skills with watercolour. Each of the thirteen plates is completely filled with colour wash, which enables both the brighter colours and the transparency of the shower water to play their part in these playful, exploratory, risqué bathroom scenes.

This is Schatz at his best, a remarkable achievement for an artist who had experienced so much upheaval and personal trauma in his life not long before he created this portfolio.
