Though this edition of Kake’s adventures, Volume 14 of the twenty-six finally published, is entitled Sadist, it should really be called either Masochist or Gay Torture, exploring as it does the gamut of gay-on-gay humiliation techniques. For the vast majority of gays (though not all) this remained the stuff of pure fantasy; as Rob Meijer, the owner of a leather shop and art gallery in Amsterdam, explained in an interview about Tom and his art, ‘These works are not conversation pieces, they’re masturbation pieces.’
