This collection of 27 erotic drawings by ‘Eugène Reunier’, Autour de l’amour (All About Love)  was published in portfolio form, and although it says it originates from Paris and many of the drawings have French titles in pencilled French-style script, it is likely that they actually come from Germany.

There are some common themes, clowns and spanking among them, both popular 1920s–30s subjects. The quality of the drawing is uniformly high, and certainly bears a strong resemblance to Breuer-Courth’s known commercial work. We also know from his photographic efforts in the 1940s that Breuer-Courth was partial to beautiful naked women, as his images in Enthüllte Schönheit (Incomparable Beauty) demonstrate.

Let us therefore give him the benefit of the doubt, and enjoy these period images with all their imagination and humour.

Autour de l’amour was produced in a limited edition of 300 copies, of which fifty were signed by the author (as Eugène Reunier).
