The original photocopied Man Bag contained only ink drawings and monochrome xeroxes of Stu Mead’s brightly coloured paintings. In 1999 Le Dernier Cri published 25 full-colour prints of the originals in a portfolio, producing 1,000 copies, and for the first time Mead’s growing band of admirers were able to see his work outside of one of the few galleries willing to show his work.
The Man Bag paintings, together with selections from his later work, have now been collected in a full-colour book entitled Stu Mead, published in 2015 by Divus, which also includes important introductions by Lenka Klodová and Ivan Mečl.
