The tales of Jean de la Fontaine, especially the bawdier ones, have always been a rich source of inspiration for erotic illustrators, and this small volume with ten select stories is Lapuszewski/Stall’s contribution to the genre.

These etchings are among the most explicit ever produced to accompany la Fontaine’s texts. For ‘La chose impossible’ for example, in which a woman outwits the Devil by challenging him to straighten out a pubic hair, she has no hesitation in showing him all she has.

The last of the images here is a separately-published print of the La Fontaine story ‘Les lunettes’ (The Spectacles), about a mother superior who loses her glasses and resorts to identifying her flock by their private parts.

Dix contes choisis was published anonymously in Paris in a numbered edition of 300 copies.
