The Russian artist Dmitry Akimov grew up in St Petersburg (then Leningrad), and graduated in 1990 from the design department at the State Academy of Art and Design. After graduating, he travelled around Europe visiting galleries and learning about different genres of art, being particularly interested in surrealism and modernism. Still living and working in St Petersburg, Akimov is a full member of the International Federation of Artists and of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia.
Dmitry Akimov’s work is distinguished by his versatility, experimenting with many different techniques, styles and genres. Since around 2010 photography has come to occupy an important place in the his output, and in recent years nearly all his work has been based on photography. Examples of his original and inventive erotic photography can be seen here.
We are very grateful to our Russian friend Yuri for introducing us to the work of this artist, and for supplying the images.
