Robert Baxter has been part of the New York area art community for many years. Educated at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, he returned to the east coast and worked in New York, primarily as an illustrator. As well as book illustration he worked for advertising agencies and magazines including Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal and Reader’s Digest.
In the early 1970s he was one of six painters who started a studio and art school in Westport, Connecticut, called Studio II. In more recent years Robert Baxter has split his time between Connecticut and Provence in France, where he has organised painting workshops under the name Tour de Provence.
In addition to his painting, in both oils and watercolours, Baxter is on the faculty of two Connecticut art schools, Silvermine School of Art and Rowayton Art Center.
We are grateful to our Russian friend Yuri for suggesting the inclusion of this artist.
