Les contemporaines galantes is an almost impossible title to translate, galant in French implying a slightly risqué, mannered, dated sort of love affair. Maybe Modern Romances is the closest we can get in English, but it still lacks a certain edginess.

This is another collaboration between the prolific Pierre Mac Orlan and André Dignimont, the slim 64-page volume containing ten very short erotic narratives together with accompanying illustrations, some of the most colourfully explicit created by Dignimont.

Les contemporaines galantes was published anonymously in Paris, in a limited numbered edtion of 212 copies.
