The British artist Richard Wallace is not to be confused with Sir Richard Wallace (1818–90), who founded the world-famous Wallace Collection in London with its extensive collection of art. Our Richard Wallace grew up near Manchester in northern England, and after training and working in advertising and graphic design for several years was drawn towards fine art. As a self-taught painter he first exhibited in Manchester, and in 1980 achieved a Young Artist Award from the Manchester Academy of Fine Art.

Between 1980 and 2011 Wallace exhibited regularly, including London’s prestigious Mall Galleries and the Royal Academy summer exhibition. In 1991 he won the Silver Palette Award of Derby City Art Gallery, and then spent a year as the gallery’s artist in residence.

After 2012 health issues intervened in his career, and his website and exhibition schedule are currently in abeyance.
