Mitsu Okubo’s speciality is recognising and imagining the weirdness of human behaviour and interaction, and in this series of photomontages he forces us to see the ways in which pornographic sexual imagery has pervaded almost every aspect of our everyday lives. The juxtaposition of humour and creepiness is unsettling, and leaves us thinking hard about the adverse effect such imagery is having on our – and our children’s – lives and relationships.

Okubo has also collaborated with fellow artist Devin Troy Strother on a collection titled Double Impact, a pot-pourri of art and collage dealing with similar themes of sex and violence. Double Impact can be ordered from Okubo’s online store here.
