André Masson drew thousands of images during his long artistic career, and many of them, especially in his later years, had an erotic element, some blatantly so. A portfolio of twenty lithographs, Dessins érotiques, was compiled in 1972 in conjunction with the specialist art printer Claude Jobin and presented in a large-format folder, each print signed in crayon by Masson.

They demonstrate the range and creativity of André Masson’s erotic output, including examples of his ‘automatic drawing’ and his sensuous landscapes, with some in black and white and some in rich colour.

The edition was limited to three hundred numbered copies, and as many of the portfolios were separated for framing complete sets are now very scarce.
