Conrad’s specialities were scenes of adventure, military achievement and exciting forms of transport, but it is clear from his surviving sketchbooks that he also maintained an abiding interest in matters of the flesh. Here we have several well-observed sketches of young women in various states of undress, together with some prints from (as far as we know) an unpublished erotic text.
