In case we were in any doubt about the relationship between the bearded man and the Rubenesque woman of his earlier etchings, in 2016 Mikhailov produced a portfolio of sixteen monochrome etchings entitled Artist and Model, in which the tender intimacy portrayed raises important and fascinating questions about the roles of artist and sitter when it comes to depictions of the naked body.

Here artist and model clearly know each other very well, and appear to have found a way of being together which emcompasses both art and interpersonal connection in a real, honest and respectful partnership.
