In Una Pequeña Historia de Amor (A Short Story about Love), Rubert offers in a comic book-like sequence both a familiar narrative and several parallel interpretations. The puppet-mistress and creator of the story is a very naked young woman, while the puppets are limited in their agency and choices by the strings firmly attached to them.

In this seemingly simple way the artist presents us with a multi-layered story which can be read on many different levels – a conventional seduction, a fantasy-driven rape, a power play, or a something-came-over-me-that-I-couldn’t-control encounter.
