Nazanin Pouyandeh’s drawings, usually made in coloured pencil, are often the beginnings of ideas which end up as paintings, but are no less detailed and thought-provoking as a result.

Here are many of her trademark artistic elements – snakes, sea creatures, repeating backgrounds with cultural symbols, and seemingly unfinished backgrounds which serve to emphasise the main features of the drawing.
