Lelek subtitles this sequence ‘Even rounder than Rubens’, taking another well-known biblical story as his subject.
The images are loosely based on the biblical Book of Daniel Chapter 13, a narrative of sexual harassment in which two religious elders entrap Susanna, a married woman, while she is bathing. When she refuses their sexual advances, they falsely accuse her of adultery.
To illustrate the subject, Klaus Lelek has created images inspired by works by Peter Paul Rubens, Jacob Jordaens, Giovanni Francesco Barberi, Lovis Corinth, Arnold Böcklin, Louis-Jean-François Lagrenée, Guido Reni and Guido Cagnacci.
