Gray, often ‘Poor Gray’, is a character appearing often in Claire Mibrath’s work, an introspective, insecure young man who spends too much of his time wondering why the world is such a difficult unfriendly place.
When asked about the role of Gray in her work, Mibrath explains ‘Gray is my alter-ego. I started drawing Gray when I was younger, as the lead character of a comic strip. Gray is a vessel for me to work out complicated feelings, and he’s often depicted as anxious. In recent years though, I’ve wanted to give him more joy, so these days you will sometimes find him on adventures or in loving embraces.’
