The first Dutch translation of Histoire d’O (all about which you can read here) was published by the Amsterdam publishing company De Bezige Bij (The Busy Bee), and the publisher Dolf Hamming commissioned Wout Muller to produce these eight drawings to accompany the text.
The sado-masochistic subject matter of the narrative clearly appealed to the artist, who produced these clean-lined images which perfectly complement the text.
We have only managed to find these low-resolution versions of Muller’s illustrations; if you can help us add better copies we would love to hear from you.
