Drawing has always been an integral part of the classic German art education which Gatzemeier learned in Leipzig, and here we see how important drawing is to the production of his more elaborate works.
This selection, again in chronological order, shows both studies for paintings, and experimental work on paper using a variety of materials including pencil, ink and coloured crayons. At the end are detailed studies for large paintings which can be seen in the ‘Paintings’ section.
