Unlike the erotic cards, most of which are signed by Mouton, these sets of aquarelles or watercolours are only attributable to him by hearsay or association, though it is known that he was open to lucrative commissions. There appear to be four sets of erotic aquarelles here, distinguishable by their format, subject matter, colour palette, and whether they have captions.

Whoever did create these scenes clearly had both a vivid imagination and a clear understanding of what was required by whoever commissioned them. They include lots of sexual congress, plus voyeurism, spanking, group sex and orgies – and not a small dose of humour.
