‘The Husband of My Dreams’ is a series created as a result of analysing women’s comments on ‘the ideal man’ in online forums, discussions and blogs – what women want from men, and how they imagine that might be. As Sasha Neschastnova explains, ‘This “household eroticism project” was based on Russian women’s forums and blogs, mostly on Instagram – what worries women, what they want their men to be, what the men need, desires, fantasies and reality, and of course comparing all this with my own life.’

The resulting works might be shocking, scandalous, too private to be discussed, with titles like ‘Shared Bathroom’, ‘Where The Money Is’, and ‘Take Me Away From Here’, but alongside the sarcasm is a witty humour. In these paintings we find ourselves. Erotica concerns everyone, in our humdrum daily lives as well as those special moments. Whatever the setting, love, passion and need remain the same.
