Miss Jovovich arrives at the elite Albert Windsor Institute to enrol one of her students, Luca Vitelli. The Mother Superior of the school seems very surprised, as she has not been informed of this new recruit. Furthermore, the tuition fees are exorbitant. However, Miss Jovovich delivers a letter from an important man who wishes to remain anonymous. Upon reading it, the Mother Superior is taken aback and is forced to accept Luca. She shows him around the institute and explains its rules. Afterward, Sister Magdalena introduces him to the other students, but he has barely set foot in the courtyard when he is greeted by young Ettore, who warns him that there is more to the school than meets the eye.

Luca’s investigation into the motives behind his admission unravels a scandalous network of corruption and forbidden affairs within the traditional Catholic educational establishment.

This dramatic graphic novel moves away from short stories to deliver a mystery set within the Institute’s elite walls. The plot follows the wealthy students, teachers, and staff of the school as they navigate a web of blackmail, forbidden romances, and hidden identities. Manunta trades his usual light-hearted style for a darker, suspenseful tone, using explicit themes to expose the hypocrisy and deep secrets hiding behind the prestigious school’s apparently perfect public image.

Scandales was commissioned and published by Tabou Éditions. It was translated into Italian as Scandali, and published by B&M Books and Magazines in 2015.
