A series of pastel drawings with a loose narrative of young love burgeoning in the French capital, ‘A Paris Adventure’ is maybe the closest we get to Székely’s own experience of life and love shortly after his first extended stay in Paris. There is an innocence and honesty in many of these images, contrasting with his usual explicit pure-fantasy portfolios, which suggests that he drew these as much for himself as for a well-off client.
