Sadao Hasegawa: Paintings and Drawings, published by Gay Men’s Press, was the vehicle which brought Hasegawa’s work to a wider western audience. In just eighty pages, and with an introduction by Johan Frederik ‘Frits’ Staal, Professor of Philosophy and South and South-East Asian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, it presented a comprehensive overview of Hasegawa’s art, showcasing his originality and enormous variety of inspiration.
