Mademoiselle Cinglade (Madam Nutcracker) is one of two spanking titles published by Editions Prima in the mid-1930s with a text by ‘André Vergereau’, almost certainly a pseudonym – ‘vergereau’, French for orchard, an oblique reference to round rosy-cheeked apples and their like. The other text by ‘Vergereau’ and published by Prima, l’Infernale fouetteuse (The Infernal Flogger), was illustrated by Chéri Hérouard.
For this Prima title Laboccetta used his pseudonym Marilac, first used in June 1934 for his regular work with Seduction magazine. His experience and skill in drawing the perfect derrière make these some of the most artistic flogging illustrations of the period.
