Born in the Ardennes region between France and Belgium, Benoît Prévot is a French illustrator and comic artist. A graduate of EMSAT (École Municipale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques) in Paris, he worked for several years in design and advertising studios before receiving formal training in graphic design and comic art at the Gobelins, a Paris school for visual communication and the arts. He then worked on several animated television series before finding his real love, artwork for comic books and fanzines.

Prévot is best known for his period-style homoerotic artwork, skilfully capturing the style and atmosphere of illustrations produced in the 1920s. Although his favourite medium is ink and graphite on paper, he regularly produces works using watercolours and oil paints. He lives and works in Paris.

Benoît Prévot’s work has been shown at Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in New York, and has been displayed regularly at the Tom of Finland Art and Culture Festivals.

We are very grateful to our Russian friend Yuri for introducing us to the work of this artist, and for supplying many of the images.
