In this portfolio we have included all the Suzanne Meunier postcards we cannot positively assign to any of the known La Librairie de L’estampe colour postcard sets published between 1915 and the late 1920s. We have only included here those of hers which fall roughly into the category ‘erotic’; she painted many more showing young Parisian women dancing, showing off their hats, sitting in cafés – just being beautiful.
We suspect that there must be collectors who specialise in this genre of postcards, maybe even have collections of Suzanne Meunier’s work. We would love to hear from anyone who can help us to sort and complete her ‘galante’ postcard sets.
In the meantime enjoy the joie de vivre of the young women of interwar Paris, as depicted by one of the best painters of the period.
