The Wizard of Ooz was commissioned by Puritan magazine, and appeared in their issues 4, 6 and 7. It follows Alice in its approach to a well-known classic, and was the last time that Wood produced – maybe was able to produce – a complex coloured comic strip. This probably also explains why each of the three contributions is only two frames long. Nevertheless, the graphic skill and sexual innuendo are still clearly apparent.
