Fábio Baroli is well-known in his native Brazil for his innovative and thought-provoking paintings of modern Brazilian life, often using multiple linked images in a single work to illustrate the variety, perversity and humour of human interactions.
He grew up in Uberaba, Minas Gerais, in southern Brazil, and studied at the University of Brasilia, where he gained his Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2010. He went on to earn a Master in Visual Poetics from the University of São Paulo in 2022, and in recent years has based himself in São Paulo.
Between 2007 and 2011 he concentrated on his responses to erotic art, including depictions of the body in well-known classical works, and the boundary between art and the growing stream of online pornography. More recently his work has moved towards large paintings featuring everyday life in Brazil, and the beauty and fragility of the Brazilian landscape.
As well as exhibiting regularly throughout Brazil, he has had exhibitions in Vienna, Marbella and Düsseldorf.
